In September 2012 Alison delivered a paper at the Text and Textiles Conference, Centre for Material Texts, Jesus College at The University of Cambridge. This was an opportunity for Alison to develop her critical thinking. She focused on how she removes text out of the source material and replaces it with textiles using the process of reverse applique and free machine embroidery.
